1 Church Street

1 Church Street or Kenmore as it was previously named was listed Grade II in 1952.  Thought to have been C18 it transpires that the cruck frames at second floor date it to the mid to late C16.  The house incorporates a shop at ground floor level which in the C18 was converted into a smart parlour with panelling connected via new door opening to the stair hall beyond. The staircase is a modern replacement of the original which still exists in part between the front and rear rooms.

Last used as a guest house, the brief was to carry out the necessary upgrading and repair works to reinstate a family home, including roof works, and applying lime render to the entire north elevation and new joinery items to the ground floor and rear.  The application for listed building consent and planning permission was granted in December 2020.
