Highfield House

The garden to Highfield House extends to the edge of the conservation area and is on the edge of the commercial core, where residential buildings abut former workshops and premises of cabinet makers.  The design of a sustainable single storey building closely resembles the linear form of outbuildings commonly seen in the area.  The new ‘building in the garden’ will be occupied by three additional residents of the care home, with direct access to all the facilities of the main block but with the benefit of a landscape setting.  These rooms may be used for respite care and for those seeking solitude and reflection.
