AAL have been appointed to obtain listed building consent to replace the corrugated iron roof over this previously thatched farmhouse which is of late mediaeval origin. Together with an attached cider house and stables, the farmhouse is one of four Grade II listed buildings on the site including a cart shed, barn and garden wall. Constructed of chert with dressings of Hamstone from Somerset, windows with leaded lights and label moulds, the roofs are a mix of Welsh slate, iron and clay crinkle crankle tiles. Last month we submitted two planning applications for unlisted buildings, one in a conservation area in North Chideock, Dorset and another bordering the historic deer park of East Coker in South Somerset. It is with some trepidation that we return to work – now in Tier 3 – everywhere is shut down again, but we are open for business and working flexibly, socially distanced in the Glass Bubble which I now call the office. After 9 months, planning permission and listed building consent was granted with 14 conditions, for 1 Church Street, Lyme Regis, last Friday. This was the best Christmas present the clients could hope for after such a long wait. Is this a record for the longest time taken to get consent or the maximum number of conditions?
