Angel Blog – Week 17

It is almost the end of the month and we have achieved many deadlines and acquired a new intern, Martha Titcombe who will join us officially on 28 June for eight weeks.  Welcome to Martha or should I say Croeso? Two more applications for listed building consent have been submitted to East Devon, one by us and the other by our partner in Camarthen, Rural Office for Architecture which has been a rewarding experience. Angel Blog – Week 15

Great progress has been made since Easter with three confirmed commissions in as many days, and over the next week we shall be resourcing projects as far afield as Wellington and West Lulworth. At the end of last week, we obtained planning permission for a private dwelling in Ottery St Mary Conservation Area. On Tuesday 6 April, TA Green Builders started work on site in Frome with excavation for a land drain at the base of a listed townhouse, a project that will involve both repair and modest alterations using traditional construction methods.

What we’re up to this month – October

Angel Architecture worked closely with the Client and Chris Gibbons, Conservation Builder to achieve a very traditional appearance to the first floor of this Grade II listed building. Formerly concealed behind cement render this clunch and flint elevation was carefully uncovered together with the lath and plaster to the rear of a gentrified staircase which projected into the masonry, repointed, rendered and limewashed using Rose of Jericho analysis and mixes.  The only difficulty was overcoming the vertical positioning of the new windows to the master bedroom and family bathroom since the external masonry wall extended well above ceiling level into […]
