The Guildhall 1834, Grade II* listed in 1950
The Town Council’s brief was to improve the existing means of ingress and egress from this multi purpose space which doubles as a venue for community functions, council chamber, mayor’s parlour, offices, and hall.
The former Corn Exchange had a Heritage Lottery Fund grant to install as glass screen to enclose the vestibule with a C20 entrance façade. Options were put forward to both improve the thermal performance of this space, disabled access and means of escape in compliance with Building Regulations.
