Weekly Blog – 50

This week is the real count down to Christmas with ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ playing in cinemas and mulled wine being served everywhere after dusk. Real fires and the smell of pine cones, homemade mince pies and carols.  We are committed to completing all our 2021 workload before the official industry closure on Christmas Eve. Clients are already booking their appointments between Christmas and New Year!   Our offices are closed from 23 December to 10 January 2022.

Weekly Blog – 49

Very disappointed to have to cancel our office Christmas lunch two years running but we are mindful of the wellbeing of staff and associates. Sladers Yard has agreed to host the belated Christmas lunch in the New Year although I doubt Philip Sutton RA will still be on show. This week we are preparing to submit another 4 schemes for planning and listed building consent before Christmas, all in Dorset, in Corscombe, Sydling St Nicholas, Broadwindsor and Wynford Eagle. One is unlisted in a Conservation Area and three are Grade II listed buildings.

December News

It is refreshing to be both the recipient of two good planning outcomes, to receive a glowing testimonial and new instruction all in one week. The site meeting with planners and discussions with conservation officers paid off! We have been appointed as architects for the project management of a project that starts on-site in the New Year. On another unrelated note, our associate property inspector Adrienne Ridler-Lee has submitted her Master’s dissertation which means she can now practice in her own right as The Estate Office Heritage Consultancy.  A good end to a productive year. Weekly Blog – 48

This week has been a mixed bag, the highs include some very good outcomes at planning and some very long and drawn out delays to other projects including granting extensions of time for projects that are well past their decision dates. Best yet is a very keen Parish Council that meets at 9am on a Saturday morning in December.  I am always pleased to be invited and attend these local government meetings since this is a fantastic opportunity to promote sustainable development and to take away any constructive criticism.
