How unexpected to discover this beautiful lemon tree outside a Grade II listed building today. Even more surprising after the terrible storm there were still two lemons intact.

This walled garden is in the process of being transformed from a building site into a flower, vegetable, orchard and pleasure garden, it will be both beautiful and useful as originally designed.
There are masonry bees in the brick walls which have bored into the fine lime mortar joints - in dire need of repointing. Hamstone copings have been retrieved from underneath the debris.

Site visit to clients in Melbury Osmond who have transformed their symmetrical edible garden with raised beds and gravel paths accessed through arches with roses, fruit and clematis. A secret space behind the formal garden defined by high hedges and mature shrubs, mature olive trees in pots.

Coombe Street in February 1907 somewhat different to how it appears today. The ladies outside the Refreshment Rooms are standing next to the former King's Arms pub which was closed in 1903 when under the management of Frederick Bowden. It was one of two Palmer's pubs which were closed because there were 21 in the town serving a population of 2100. That's 100 people to each pub. This included alehouses and wine and one off licenses. There were no licensing hours!

Coming out of a matinee performance with Sheridan Smith in Opening Night to this layering of classical architecture by the Cafe Royal. The musical is based on the 1970's film to music and lyrics by Rufus Wainwright. The best possible way to spend a rainy afternoon in London.

The quality of light in an attic can be delightful - not to mention it is often the warmest room in the house. Wide pine boards have lovingly been repaired with a trait de jupiter or bolt of lightening joint.
