After a week in Yorkshire, no traffic, no stress and no IT, we are back at work with renewed energy, eager to overcome new and existing challenges. We have had our own share of COVID infections with staff self-isolating and working from home. With all of us at AAL double vaccinated we are better able to hit our targets.

This week has been partially spent pulling together a second application for an established client in Dorset and designing a swimming pool and outside kitchen for clients in Devon. There is a trend for this new way of entertaining, more sophisticated than a BBQ or pizza oven, with a proper separate building providing shade and preparation space adjacent to the pool for those endless hot days which are a consequence of global warming. What a busy week it has been with a site visit to Eastbury House to see the works in progress for the means of escape from the first floor of this Grade II listed residential care home, and visits to two new projects, one in Sherborne and one in Broadwindsor, where we already have two clients. We also received listed building consent for internal alterations for a listed rope workers cottage in Bridport. This week has seen a new commission in Merriott, another phase of a project in Sydling St Nicholas, and two submissions for planning permission and listed building consent to Dorset Council for sites in West Lulworth and Holditch. Together with ongoing repair work in Frome, we have plenty of variety in the Practice.
