It won’t have escaped anyone’s notice that I am dissatisfied with the planning system and now I have another anecdote. It takes on average about 2 weeks to validate an application unless you are very lucky. This one was declared invalid for exceptionally spurious grounds – ‘Could you please confirm that you have permission from the Consulting Structural Engineers for their drawings to be published?’
This is a ridiculous reason to withhold timely registration of an application where a) the structural engineers’ details are vital to the proposals and b) all applications relay on documentation by third parties. Therefore on bigger schemes I would need to provide evidence that all the ecologists, the civil engineers, tree and energy consultants had given their consent for their data to be used in conjunction with mine. The planning system was broken previously, it is now even more broken.
