An application for planning permission for a Solar Port at Plottingham Fields car park in Bridport has been submitted to Dorset Council, the first of several solar port schemes to be commissioned by Bridport Town Council, in partnership with Low Carbon Dorset.

The cantilevered solar port provides solar charging for electric cars, motorbikes and bicycles, comprising 4 bays with space for 6 vehicles to be charging simultaneously.  The scheme also provides additional panels on the adjoining garage roof which can be stored or used to generate electricity to flood light the adjacent tennis courts. This is part of an extensive council scheme to redevelop and improve the immediate reacreational area.

This project allowed us to collaborate with two other Bridport based businesses; Solarport Systems (Mechanical design) and G R Edwardes (Electrical design) to produce an application for an initiative that will hopefully be replicated across Dorset and beyond.
