The pressure is on now that there are only three weeks to Christmas and everything stops for at least a week if not two in the construction industry.
The deadline for me is to complete several different projects, to carry out a final inspection on Wednesday to enable scaffolding to be struck, opening tenders on Friday and submitting another for Building Regs approval.
The critical issue is how much external work can be carried out in cold weather – when the overnight temperature falls below 3 degrees Celsius. The lime mortar repairs will be on hold unless the works are very sheltered, or protected with hessian or both.
Many projects can’t start outside as it is too cold to pour concrete for footings and again this needs to cure so the weather is a big determining factor in the construction industry.
