Listening to the Reith Lecture yesterday by Rutgar Bregman on ‘A Time for Monsters’ – the first the series Moral Revolution reminded me of how easy it is to do nothing and then through apathy everyone becomes disenchanted and gives up. We are reeling from the lack of consensus at COP30. He offers hope when we are facing crushing problems and urges us to transform the way we live our lives.

For example the power of small groups to change the course of our destiny. He leans heavily on the past to inform the present. From the decline of the Roman Empire to the present day we are still witnessing the survival of the shameless emperors surrounding themselves by sycophants, their loyalty to power, not to moral awakening or corporate responsibility.

A call for action worth listening to on BBC Sounds.
