When bad things happen there is always a good reason so this is my philosophical take on breaking my leg at a very routine site visit while surveying and elevation of a Grade II listed house.

Sometimes or rather most of the time we are not really present. I know I am not because being present requires all your attention and focus. I had back to back meetings and a whole raft of tasks to achieve that day and I was already lining up appointments for the rest of the week.

The moral of this story is that we all probably need to reflect on our effectiveness and to weigh up what is more important – to have the luxury of working on one project from conception to completion or juggle lots of projects at the risk of ‘dropping the ball’. Guilty as charged.
