Despite cutting down the workload to the absolute minimum and working part-time while recovering from a broken leg, I am still besieged with work communications, zoom invitations, emails, texts, WhatsApp messages and phone calls 24/7.

What is it about society that allows us to encroach upon each other’s personal space and obliges us to constantly check our devices in case we miss a vital work-related instruction or some crucial change of time or venue to meet? This was not the case even 5 years ago.

I resent being accessible outside office hours and yet it used to be the exception to work a Saturday morning, now it is the new normal. This is the disadvantage of home working, together with the encroachment on family life.
