We have received listed building consent for two applications this week, one in Dorset (Sherborne) for alterations to a Grade II listed care home and another in South Somerset (Merriott) for a Grade II listed cottage. The best part about achieving a good outcome is that building work can commence and those long awaited improvements implemented. We have already got the Building Regs package ready for the first of these and the second one doesn’t need them. Design in the Making. That describes our job perfectly, always honing something so that it is fit for purpose, trying very hard to balance our client’s needs with the needs of the existing building and within the limitations of planning. Often future-proofing a structure that has been dilapidated, converting a utilitarian space in which to modulate light and create warmth, comfort and moods, listen to the rain, to entertain, sleep, live or work. We seek to create a place to rejoice in. All architecture is people-oriented, society oriented, culture oriented.  

February News

This month sees the start of several new projects across the counties of Devon, Dorset and Somerset. These enquiries which came in during January have been converted into live jobs. We are preparing for two projects to start on site and negotiating on two others.  Also, we have been designing light, bright, bespoke fitted furniture and numerous home offices, which double as guest accommodation or gyms.
